Kennedy Space Center from Orlando: Ticket, Bus Tour or Day Trip?
5 min read
Short answer: if you have a car, book the entry ticket and drive. If you do not want to drive, the day trip with transport removes that part. The question is not which ticket gets you the rocket, but how you get there and back.
How far it is
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex lies on Space Commerce Way on Merritt Island, east of Orlando. The complex’s own travel page describes two routes from Orlando: about 50 miles east on SR 50 and then about 10 miles on SR 405, or about 50 miles on the Beachline (SR 528) to SR 407 and then about 7.5 miles on SR 405. A 2025 press release from the complex calls it just 45 minutes from Orlando. Search your navigation app for “Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex”: the same page warns that plain “Kennedy Space Center” sends you to the wrong location.
What the entry ticket covers
According to the official FAQ, admission includes Space Shuttle Atlantis with the Shuttle Launch Experience, Gateway: The Deep Space Launch Complex, Heroes & Legends, Journey To Mars, the IMAX films, and the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour. The bus tour stops at the Gantry at LC-39 and at the Apollo/Saturn V Center, where all bus tours end. The complex suggests allowing three hours for the bus tour, and its FAQ advises against taking several bus tours, such as the KSC Explore Tour on top of the regular one.
Opening hours change by date, entry closes one hour before closing and the last bus tour leaves 2.5 hours before closure, so check the hours page for your day.
The three offers
| Offer | Price | Rating | What the listing says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex ticket | €73.73 | 4.7 (6,254) | A full day at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex |
| Entry ticket with Explore Bus Tour | €97.67 | 4.7 (5,188) | Entry combined with a bus tour past spaceflight icons and exhibits |
| Trip from Orlando with transport | €79.25 | 4.8 (900) | 10 hours, full-day tour, several options and experiences to choose from |
The Explore Bus Tour ticket adds the KSC Explore Tour: a space expert guides it, and it stops for photos at the Vehicle Assembly Building and historic Launch Complex 39 on the way to the Apollo/Saturn V Center. Its booking page says you do not need the regular bus tour as well, because both end at the Apollo/Saturn V Center. The day trip comes in four options: transport only from Orlando, Kissimmee or Lake Buena Vista; transport with entry ticket; a small-group tour of up to 12 people with hotel pickup, the Explore bus tour and a $15 food voucher; and an express option that boards at ICON Park. The entry ticket is included only in the options that say so.
Do you need a car?
Not necessarily: every option of the day trip includes round-trip transport. If you prefer your own timing, you can compare car rentals for Orlando. Weigh the cost of the rental, fuel and parking against the price of the day-trip option you need; the complex collects its parking fee at the entrance to the lot.
Our recommendation
For most visitors with a car: the plain entry ticket. It is the most reviewed offer for this attraction, and the bus tour is part of admission anyway. If you would rather not drive there and back, the day trip is the alternative; pick an option that includes the entry ticket. See all options on our Kennedy Space Center page.
